Mission and Evangelism Department
Terms of Reference
- To promote and coordinate religious education programs in the Council’s schools.
- To promote and coordinate religious education programs among the Council’s churches and schools.
- To examine applications by the Council’s churches for subsidy to promote pastoral care in the Council’s schools and to make recommendations to the Executive Committee.
- To promote joint effort between the Council and its church members in planning local and overseas evangelical programs.
Church Evangelical Programs Committee
Objectives
- To encourage and assist the churches to share their resources and to become partners in mission
- To assist and support the churches to assess their state of health and to develop a strategy for building a healthy church for pastoral care.
Activities/Programs
- To conduct visits to the Council’s churches, to strengthen mutual cooperation and support between the Council and the churches and between the churches themselves
- To plan to set up a Healthy Church Committee to show concern for the churches and to encourage them to share their resources and to learn from each other, so as to facilitate mutual support in pastoral care among the churches.
Evangelical Programs Committee
Objectives
- To set up a network for evangelical programs (including local and overseas religious organizations) .
- Liaise the Council’s churches for the purpose of promoting evangelical programs between China and overseas countries (including visits, short missionary trips and long term development.)
School Evangelical Programs Committee
Objectives
- To promote cooperation and to support evangelical work between the churches and the schools (including planting of churches in the schools, school chaplaincy and Education Sunday).
- To assist and develop the religious education curriculum in the kindergartens, primary and secondary schools.
Mountaineering Ministry Committee
Objectives
- To allow the participants, through mountaineering training, to gain the knowledge of hiking in Hong Kong, organizing a hiking trip and the basics of hiking, developing a keen sense for environmental protection and experiencing the marvels of God’s creation.
- To train the participants in the knowledge of the qualities of a leader and the skills to lead.
- To increase the participants’ self-confidence, the courage to lead and to express themselves
- To provide opportunities for the participants to serve and to practice what they have learned
