On March 28, 2025, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Mandalay in central Myanmar, and the entire Myanmar was shattered, and about 80% to 90% of the buildings in major cities such as Mandalay and Naypyidaw collapsed. Numerous casualties were immense. As of April 1, more than 2,000 people had died, 350,000 were injured, 80,000 people are missing and 1.5 million were homeless.
Hong Kong Christian Council has allocated US$50,300 (about HK$400,000) from the Emergency Fund to support the relief work in Myanmar, including food, water and medical supplies, etc., to help about 700 households.
